About Us

Since 1963 Honnen has operated with a philosophy of not just meeting but exceeding, customers' expectations. Honnen is one of the oldest and largest John Deere dealers in North America, now operating out of 11 locations. We cover the entire Rocky Mountain Region!

Although Honnen Equipment has grown quite substantially in a small period of time, the family roots are still much a part of the Honnen culture. From the very beginning, Honnen Equipment has embodied strong values and ethics and this is still very true today. All of our employees strive every day to do the right thing, to take pride in their work and always treat others with respect.

  • Pete Honnen

It was 1963 when Pete Honnen first opened the doors of Pete Honnen Equipment as a John Deere Construction & Forestry dealer in Commerce City (Denver, CO), right down the street from where our flagship branch stands today.

  • Grand Junction

Two years later, in 1965, Honnen Equipment opened a branch location on the west slope of Colorado in Grand Junction.

  • Grove by Manitowoc

In 1970, Honnen Equipment took on the Grove Hydraulic Crane line. This opens up the lifting market in Colorado for Honnen and adds variety to the brands of equipment Honnen represents.

  • Durango, Colorado

Two short years later Honnen Equipment opened up another branch in Durango, Colorado. This gave Honnen three strategically placed locations throughout the state to better serve our growing number of customers

  • National Crane by Manitowoc

Let's skip ahead a few years to 1985 when Honnen picks up the National Crane line. These boom trucks are both durable and reliable.

  • Hamm

In 1987 Honnen adds the Hamm Roller line. This diversifies the market even more by adding in the road building segment.

  • Honnen Family

Honnen Equipment continues as a family-owned and operated business when Pete's son, Mark, becomes President and General Manager in 1999 and Pete ascends to become Chairman and CEO.

  • Lull

The Lull Variable Reach Forklift line of products is added to the brands Honnen represents in 1998.

  • Commercial Worksite Products

When John Deere introduced their Commercial Worksite Products line in 1999, it was decided that light equipment would complement the other lines very well. Honnen became the authorized dealer for CWP products in the Denver metro area.

  • Pete Honnen

Pete Honnen passed in December 2003 and Mark Honnen took on the roles of Chairman and CEO. These were some big shoes to fill, but Mark was well equipped to do the job.

  • Crawler Crane Line

The Manitowoc Crawler Crane line was added to the list of premium brands that Honnen represents in 2005. Also that year, Honnen picked up the Hitachi Construction Equipment line for the state of Wyoming.

  • Gillette, Wyoming

In 2006 Honnen Equipment opened a store in Gillette, Wyoming. With a location in the northeast part of the state this allowed Honnen to better serve the mining industry in that area. The road building industry would be changed as well when Wirtgen Milling Machines and Vogele Pavers were introduced to North America in 2006. Honnen added these lines to complement the Hamm roller line.

  • Rock Springs, Wyoming

A brand new store opens up in Rock Springs, Wyoming in 2008. This is a big day as Honnen now has 6 stores in 2 states which is double the territory coverage in just 6 short years.

  • Scott Machinery Co.

On May 1, 2009 Honnen Equipment acquired the John Deere dealership of Scott Machinery Co. which included territory in the entire state of Utah and southeast Idaho. Honnen opened stores in Salt Lake City, Ogden, and St. George, Utah and Idaho Falls, Idaho. The Hitachi line was added to the repretoire for all 4 of these new locations. For it's locations in the state of Utah, Honnen would also become the authorized dealer for John Deere Commercial Worksite Products (CWP), and the Wirtgen Group product line, consisting of Wirtgen Mills, Vogele Pavers and Hamm Rollers.
